Initializing your new hardware wallet is a straightforward process designed to maximize security from the very first moment. Follow these steps to ensure your assets are protected correctly.
Unbox and Inspect
Ensure the holographic seal on your Trezor box is intact. If it appears tampered with, do not use the device and contact support immediately.
Connect to Trezor Suite
Go to trezor.io/start and download the Trezor Suite desktop application. Connect your device via USB and follow the prompt to install the latest firmware.
Create Wallet & Backup
The device will generate a unique recovery seed (12-24 words). Write this down on the provided recovery card. Never store this digitally. This is your only backup.
Set a PIN
Create a strong PIN code to protect your device from unauthorized physical access. You will need this every time you connect your Trezor.
Never enter your recovery seed on a computer keyboard or phone. Only enter it directly on the Trezor device if prompted during recovery.
